N.I.H. LAUNCHES ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE DATABASE
Two arms of the National Institutes of Health - the National
Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine and the
National Library of Medicine - have greatly improved the ability
of users to search for bibliographic citations for literature
about complementary and alternative medicine. The new subset of
PubMed contains more than 220,000 citations from MEDLINE. Some
citations include links to the full articles.

WEB WARY
A new Gallup survey has found that only seven percent of
Americans are willing to store or transmit their personal health
information on the Internet. In the survey of 1,000 men and women
18 and older, 77 percent also said keeping their personal medical
information private is very important.

DOCTORS GO ONLINE, BUT MOSTLY FROM HOME,
NOT THE OFFICE
In March, the American Medical Association will release results
from a survey showing that 70 percent of American physicians use
the Internet, up from just 37 percent in 1999. However, most of
them use it for personal rather than professional purposes.
